탄탄한 실력과 매력적인 첼로의 소리로 사랑받고 있는 첼리스트 조윤경, 그녀의 또 다른 이름은 첼로댁이다. 구독자 약 20만명 (총 조회수 3500만)을 보유한 한국의 독보적인 첼로 채널을 운영하며 출중한 실력을 바탕으로 클래식부터 영화음악, 한국의 진한 정서를 담은 가요까지 크로스오버의 대표주자로 첼로의 대중화에 기여함으로써 많은 이들의 사랑을 받고 있다.  


  첼리스트 조윤경은 9살에 처음 첼로를 시작하여 서울 예술 고등학교를 거쳐 서울대 음악대학을 최우등으로 졸업하였다. 서울예고에서는 그녀를 “예고를 빛낸 사람”으로 표창하였으며 그 후 뉴욕의 줄리어드 음악원에서 Irene Diamond Graduate Fellowship과 Eleanor Slatkin 장학금을 받으며 석사를 마쳤다. 이후 영국으로 건너가 Albert Cooper Music Charitable Trust의 후원으로 런던의 왕립 음악 대학에서 멜리사 펠프스를 사사하며 최고 연주자 과정(Artist Diploma)을 밟았다. 그녀는 다니엘 바렌보임이 상임 지휘자로 있는 베를린 슈타츠카펠레 오케스트라 아카데미 단원을 역임하였다. 

  그녀는 런던의 Musicians’ Company Prince’s Prize와 관객상을 수상하였으며 영국의 BBC라디오 “In Tune” 라이브 연주, KBS 다큐온, EBS 공감, 한경ArteTV 등에 출연하였다. 또한 루이비통 재단과 첼리스트 고티에 카퓌송(Gautier Capuçon)이 주최하는 “Classe d'Excellence de Violoncelle”에도 발탁되어 정기적으로 파리의 Fondation Louis Vuitton에서 연주회를 가졌다. 그녀는 브람스 국제 콩쿠르에서 2위, KBS-KEPKO 음악 콩쿠르 은상, 부산 음악 콩쿠르 1위, 성정 음악 콩쿠르 첼로부문 최우수상, 한국일보 콩쿠르 1위, 세계일보 콩쿠르 1위, 서울 솔로이스츠 첼로 앙상블 콩쿠르 1위, 바로크합주단 현악 콩쿠르 첼로 전체 1위 등 국내외 유수의 콩쿠르에서 그 실력을 인정받았다.


   2011년 금호 영아티스트 콘서트를 통해 데뷔한 조윤경은 KBS교향악단, 런던 모짜르트 플레이어즈, 밀레니엄 심포니 오케스트라, 성남시향, 군산시향, 구리시향, 왕립음악대학 오케스트라, 서울예고 오케스트라, 서울 솔로이스츠 첼로 앙상블 등과 다수의 협연 연주를 가졌다.


  그녀는 현재 예술의전당, 세종문화예술회관, 롯데콘서트홀에서의 단독콘서트 등 활발한 연주활동으로 청중과 소통하며 후학양성에도 힘쓰고 있다.

    Cellist Yoon-Kyung Cho was born in Seoul and has performed as a soloist and chamber musician at major venues including Wigmore Hall, Waterbridge Hall, Seoul Arts Center and Lotte Concert Hall. She appeared in BBC Radio 3 “In Tune” and KBS TV. She won Musicians’ Company Prince’s Prize(2016) , Second Prize at the Johannes Brahms International Competition in Pörtschach (Austria) and the Concerto Competition at Royal College of Music and performed Shostakovich Cello Concerto No.1 with RCM Philharmonic Orchestra in London. She has been accepted to the "Classe d'excellence de violoncelle” of Gautier Capuçon and had masterclasses and concerts in cooperation with Louis Vuitton Foundation in Paris (2014/2015). Yoon-Kyung also has won the Musicians' Company Concert Award and successfully gave her Wigmore Hall debut this year. In South Korea, she won numerous competitions including Silver Medal of KBS-KEPCO Music Competition and First Prize at Busan Times Competition, the Seoul Soloists Cello Ensemble Competition, and the Korea Times Music Competition.

 

     Yoon-Kyung gave her debut recital in the Kumho Arts Hall, Seoul where she was selected as a Kumho Young Artist. She performed Dvorak’s Cello Concerto with the KBS Symphony Orchestra in Seoul, which was broadcast on KBS TV. She has also performed as a soloist with the London Mozart Players, Millennium Symphony Orchestra, Seongnam Philharmonic Orchestra, Korea National Military Symphony Orchestra, Guri Philharmonic Orchestra, Chunchoen Philharmonic Orchestra and Seoul Soloists Cello Ensemble.

     Yoon-Kyung also performs regularly as a chamber musician and orchestral player. She had RCM Rising Star Concert playing with Sasha Rozhdestvensky at Cadogan Hall. Also, she has worked with Timothy Eddy, Mark Kaplan, and Larry Dutton, performing chamber music at the Heifetz International Institute (USA). She has also played at numerous international festivals including Encuentro Music Academy in Santander (Spain), IMS (International Music Seminar) Prussia Cove Masterclasses (UK), Sarasota International Music Festival (USA), the Chamber Music Festival at The Juilliard School, the Great Mountains International Music Festival (Korea), and the Kirishima International Music Festival (Japan). 

 

   Yoon-Kyung began learning the cello at the age of nine and graduated from Seoul Arts High School which later awarded her the Most Accomplished Alumna Award. She received a Bachelor of Music from Seoul National University with a high distinction and then studied at the Juilliard School for a Master of Music with Timothy Eddy. She was supported by the Irene Diamond Graduate Fellowship and Eleanor Slatkin Scholarship at the Juilliard School. She studied at the Royal College of Music in London for an Artist Diploma with Melisa Phelps as an Amaryllis Fleming Scholar supported by a Soirée d’Or Award.  Also, she has been awarded by Albert Cooper Music Charitable Trust.
Yoon-Kyung was an academist of Staatskapelle Berlin conducted by Daniel Barenboim.

 

      She is currently based in Seoul, Korea giving concerts and teaching. Yoon-Kyung is also making videos on Youtube channel 'CelloDeck' which has about 200k subscribers.
